Konkan Vidya Prasarak Mandal, Mumbai, registered as a Public Trust in 1988, is dedicated to carry out work in the areas of Education, Environment and development of villages.
Mangavli village is situated in the hills of the Sahyadri Mountains , in the district of Sindhudurg n the Konkan Region of the state of Maharashtra. Agriculture is the main occupation and it depends almost entirely on the unpredictable and often elusive monsoon. This area has an annual rainfall of between 80 to 120 inches. But on account of the lack of any schemes for water preservation, irrigation, etc, the rain water is drained away from this mountainous region.
With the result there is soil erosion, the land is deprived of all nutrients and becomes infertile. Agriculture carried on by traditional, outdated methods makes it labour- intensive. The inhabitants of this area are largely uneducated and very poor.
More than 30 years now, we have been making continuous efforts to provide quality education with latest facilities to poor children in the villages. We also take various projects in Eductaion and Environment. We request all our well wishers to donate generously for this social cause.
